DESCRIPTION:Harvard Milk Days is an 81-year tradition in Harvard\, celebrating local dairy farmers and is the longest ongoing hometown festival in the state of Illinois. Every year the event includes a carnival\, parade and activities. SUMMARY:Community Clean-up Crystal Lake
DESCRIPTION:As part of our Earth Day activities in giving back to the planet and community\, Sustainable Staffing\, Inc. took part in the 2022 Crystal Lake Community Clean-up Day.  We loaded up on Saturday morning and spent the day cleaning up Veteran’s Acres Park along side one of the local Boy Scout Troops. \nThe day started with all volunteers enjoying free donuts\, coffee\, and hot chocolate for breakfast. Immediately following was the distribution of garbage bags\, gloves\, and vests. We were then off to work! \nCrystal Lake Community Clean-Up Day is an annual event located across various park locations. It is presented in partnership by the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Crystal Lake Park District. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon with a Hot Dog Lunch at McCormick Park for all volunteers. \nRunning concurrent with the event was free document shredding hosted by AMS Store & Shred and a prescription drug take back was running from 9 a.m. to noon hosted by the Crystal Lake Police Department\, both at the McCormick Park location. \nIt was a great day!  The sun was shining\, it was nice and warm and now\, the park has never looked better! \nWe look forward to seeing you all out there next year helping to keep our planet clean. \n   \nSustainable Staffing is always looking to be an active member of the community. DESCRIPTION:Sustainable Staffing makes an effort to help build a sustainable future for everyone we interact with. We set aside a Saturday to assist Habitat for Humanity (HFHMC) with a house they are building in McHenry\, IL. \nHabitat for Humanity is an organization founded on the idea that everyone deserves a place to live. Their ultimate goal is to create communities where everyone can afford to live. HFHMC has been operating in McHenry county for nearly 30 years. They have helped hundreds of families find and build homes in our community. \nOn March 26\, 2022 three of our amazing recruiters in the McHenry Office jumped at the chance to help those in need. They spent the entire day finishing up the trim and painting the rooms in a house HFHMC had been working on since January. SUMMARY:Belvidere Chili Cook-off 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Belvidere Chamber of Commerce Chili Cook-off is a yearly competition held between the members of the Belvidere Chamber to determine who has the best Chili in town. The winner takes bragging rights for the rest of the year and everyone else gets a reason to come back and unseat the reigning champion. This competition has two categories\, best chili and best theme. The cook-off is a family event meant to bring the community together for an afternoon of fun and chili tasting. \nSustainable Staffing started participating in the event in 2017 after we opened the doors of our Belvidere Office. We participated again in 2018\, 2019 and this year\, 2022. We’ve come in as one of the top three chilis every year. \nAs is common around the country\, the fire department nearly always wins the best chili contest. If not them\, then probably the police department. Not this year though. Not in this competition.   \nThis year\, we took home the best chili award. Our green chicken chili edged out some really tough competition from both public safety departments. Our green chili was coupled with our theme of a CDC vaccination station. We were also serving jello shots in syringes and ice cold Corona beer. The winner of the theme competition was a tie for 1st between Hamblock Ford Lincoln as the 1980’s Heavy Metal band KISS and the City of Belvidere with their Wild West theme. \n  \nWe are looking forward to next year’s cook-off where we intend to defend our title of Chili Champion! \n
