Job Position: CNC Machinist

Pay Rate: $21.00-$25.00/hr

Shift: 2nd shift, Mon-Thu, 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Description:

We are seeking an experienced, detail oriented CNC Machinist to program andoperate a variety of CNC machine tools to perform progressive machiningoperations on a diversified line of close tolerance work requiring a highdegree of skill and machining techniques. May set-up for and instruct lessexperienced Machinists, troubleshoot, and adjust.

CNC Machinist Duties and Responsibilities

  • Programs, sets-up and operates CNC boring bars, CNC boring mills, large CNC milling and turning machines, CNC grinders, special purpose CNC machines, etc.

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations and set-up requirements.

  • Using a variety of precision measuring equipment, measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.

  • Creates offline and edits CNC programs; dry run, debug and edit CNC programs at machine.

  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders and shapers.

  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media, under supervision.

  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.

  • Grinds and adapts tooling and attachments for special work requirements.

  • Works with large and expensive parts or smaller parts of a complicated nature having critical and exacting requirements as to tolerance and finish.

CNC Machinist Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED. Technical certificate from a trade school and/or more than three years of machining experience.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide; able to apply the concepts of algebra, geometry and trigonometry.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings and blueprints, instructions, schedules, procedures, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports or correspondence.

  • Ability to use CNC controls and associated computers for program transfer; ability to research drawings in drawing database programs; ability to use computer software to report labor on shop orders.

  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
